This week for Wine of the Week I wanted to do something different. Since moving from Scottsdale, Arizona to Seattle, Washington I’ve actively made an effort to try different restaurants/wine bars. The other night I decided to try Purple Wine Bar and Cafe in Seattle. They also have locations in Bellevue, Washington and Woodinville, Washington. I’d heard great reviews about their food and wine so thought why not?
First off, their wine list was incredible. Literally a book of all different kinds of wine from around the world. We were told that the restaurant held over 7,000 bottles of wine! The ambiance of the restaurant was nice too. It was dimly lit and had an illuminated staircase filled with bottles of wine all around as you wind up the spiraling staircase. Of course, being a Sauvignon Blanc enthusiast, I had to try their Sauvignon Blanc wine flight. The flight consisted of three Sauvignon Blanc’s from around the world. The flight was $18 and consisted of:
- Château Haut Maurin: Bordeaux, France ’16
- Craggy Range ‘Te Muna Road Vineyard: Martinborough, New Zealand ’16
- Avennia ‘Oliane’: Yakima Valley, Washington ’16
My favorite of the three was #2. I feel like New Zealand never fails me with their Sauvignon Blanc wines!
To compliment the wine flight, I ordered the Quinoa and Arugula Salad with mixed quinoa, peas, fava beans, pickled shallots, toasted almonds, parmigiano-reggiano, lemon vinaigrette dressing and added Drapper Valley Farms grilled chicken. (Price was $10 for a half salad, $14 for a whole salad and additional $7 for the chicken). We also had the homemade sourdough bread and grilled cauliflower as appetizers.
Overall I loved the experience at Purple Wine Bar and Cafe! The service was fantastic and so was the food and wine. I’d highly recommend it. For more information visit http://www.purplecafe.com/purple-seattle/
